Clint Lowe is his name. It sounded familiar, so I did a search and found out that he's a member of the MBCA forum. I don't think he's a member here, though.

I know this is a really old post, but just in case any of you are still here, this is Clint with the high-mile 300SD. I came across this post by chance; I never saw it back in 2012.
@gatorblue92: The car was really in good shape. I spent a lot of money making it look that way many years ago. @E150GT: these cars will go for many, many years and miles if kept up and maintained. I'd like to hear an update on yours, since so many years have passed since this post was made. @sleepstar, the mileage awards are in KM. 250K, 500K, 750K, and one million. The fifth is in US miles, which is 1 million. MB accidentally sent me the one-million MILE badge, instead of the one-million KM badge. I called them, and asked if they'd like for me to return it, and they told me I could keep it, no charge. I still have it on a shelf in the house. They sent the one-million KM badge to replace it. Since that time, the badges started looking bad (poor quality), and they sent me a whole new set to replace them. @vwbuge - Yes, diamond blue was a pretty color back then. When I had the car repainted back in 2000, I was tempted to change the color to Ice Blue, which came out in 1986, but I stuck with the original. And no, the Bundts were painted, and not chrome. Just very clean To all, an update: The original engine lasted 703K before anything major was ever done to it. It started running rough and smoking at idle. Turned out to be just a broken valve guide. $1500 later, I had all the valve guides changed, as well as a new timing chain, rail, and tensioner. At 728K, the bottom end went. At that time, I didn't have the money to rebuild the engine, so I swapped it out. Traded a used diamond blue 1982 300D that needed a lot of work for a good engine and tranny. Swapped it out in the garage by myself. That went well up until the 752K it has on it now. It started overheating, and after multiple flushes, a new radiator, four different thermostats, two water pumps, (all done myself), I have never been able to figure out why it's overheating. I finally gave up and bought a 2001 E320, which I absolutely love. Great car. I still have the SD, but it's in sad shape. I just can't bring myself to part with it. The paint has started peeling, and it now has damage from an ice storm we had a few years ago. Forecast wasn't calling for much, so I didn't bother to put it in the garage that night. Turned out to be the worst ice storm I've seen in my lifetime, living in the same community all my 41 years. Large limb broke off a maple tree, and landed on the car. It got the right front fender and the hood. Anywho, it was interesting to see this post from 2012 for the first time. God bless you all who are keeping these wonderful cars alive!

Thanks for the update! Sorry to hear about the troubles with the car but it sounds like you will get it sorted.
