Grrr. Diesel shop set my injectors too high. Problems?
 

I bought a set of injectors from a board member. Smooth transaction and the injectors were in good shape.

However, they were from a turbo car. The pop pressure was stamped in the housing as 135 bar.

My W115 calls for a pop pressure of 115 bar.

I dropped them off at a (relatively) local injection shop for cleaning and specifically stated to set them to pop at 115 bar +100 psi, so that they "settle" back to optimum pressure over time, instead of dropping below.

It never dawned on me to double check with the tech while I was at the shop (100 miles away). So I called today to ask and guess what they were set at?

"What it said on the body plus 100 psi"." :mad:

We're taking her on a 1,000 mile road trip over the holiday weekend and I probably won't have time to get the injectors back to the shop. My new Bosch remans are ok (India and ~4,000 miles as per PO), but one has recently developed a slight fuel leak between the body and the lower section.

Any problems with running these overly sprung injectors or should I soldier on with the Calcutta Cheapos?

For what its worth, when I dropped off my injectors at Pacific Fuel Injection, Gus the owner who really knows Bosch Injection informed me that he had set my injectors at 10 bar over which is common practice as I had a high mileage engine - your shop went a little overboard I would say -

I was told that it was common practice to set them slightly higher so that they bed in.

My source of information is a large company in the UK who do loads of diesel (only) work.

I think there might even be something about that in the FSM I'll have a browse through in a minute...
