Can you shim an ALDA w/ a broken set screw?

om617.........The ALDA set screw is broken, and I was wondering if I could still shim under it and achieve acceptable results. Thanks for any replies........Good day to all!

I've tried shimming them and have better results just removing the internals.

From what I have read that can be dangerous if you are not aware of how much heat you are producing. Is this true?
I do not mind eliminating the ALDA if there are no detrimental effects. But if there are ill effects I would like some automatic fuel limitation. Can this still be achieved with shims even though the set screw is broken?
thanks

Should be able to. Worth giving it a try anyway. You can remove it with a shortened 27mm open end wrench without removing the intake manifold. I've always monitored boost pressure after the mod to insure that it was within spec.

Shimming the ALDA to the point that it isn't effecting any fuel limitation is no different than leaving it off. It can't serve its function in the overboost protection circuit either.

Yes, you can. The screw on mine broke and instead of replacing it, I just shimmed it and it works well. I wish I'd just shimmed it to begin with.
