Well done. And with that JB in there I doubt very much it will ever strip out. It worked like a charm in my 240D.

the two air cleaners you have pictured, are not the same, and will not interchange between all turbo motors.

does your 116 have the oil return line in the pan from the air cleaner bottom?

There are two different W116 OM617 air cleaners. Mine has the oil separator in it and the return line to the pan. The rusty one was for practice and is the earlier type.

Side note: Subaru wingnuts

For those of you who have access to pick n' pulls.... I found that the flat wingnut off a Subaru air cleaner fit my w116 perfectly. It was an older Subaru, probably late 80s vintage, with a rectanguar flat air cleaner housing with rounded corners.

You know what also works well? The wingnut off many Mercedes power steering pump lids of the era.
