I've never done a W123 series but the W126 series isn't too bad. The wobble extension is the key to making it easier. After disconnection of the battery, pull the front bracket first then the two main bolts.
Also, when re-installing the starter don't take a shortcut and leave the front bracket off. Someone did this on mine before I got it and I was tightening starter bolts every time I turned around. That little L-shaped bracket is over $50.

Good to know, I'm going to de-grease the engine 1st. I will use the bracket, I'm not smarter than the engineer's that designed the car. How did guys used to get those out before the wobble extension? Universals are sort of a pain, I've never had any luck w those! Picked up my tools, just have to do it now!
I wonder if some thread locker would help keep you bolts tight!
Another question, would it be OK to use some starter fluid to get her going so that I can get her in the garage?
