Impossible to say. Beck/Arnley is primarily a reboxer; no telling what's in the box. For the most part, their quality is okay; pricing is another story.

70 isn't old unless you're so young you don't know what old is. People like cars respond to maintenance.

This week, I road my bicycle 30 mi in under 2 hrs with a 72 yr old, 2 68 yr olds & me @ 58. We will celebrate my friends 72nd birthday with a 72 mi ride later this month.

Lesson learned: Change your oil, keep the joints lubed, take it out on the road and run it.

Thinking about it won`t do it, Do It Now.

I get on the Nordic Track Ski machine almost every morning 15 - 20 min.
If I really tighten it down, it can run my butt in the ground. And Iam 68.

When we drive around town, I get a thumbs up once in a while, and sometimes someone will come over to take a look.
Some are impressed with the milage, 336K , and it still runs?

And when I tell them, at a moments notice, we will jump in it and drive 700+ miles on a trip and think nothing of it. they think maybe we should rent a car. Blasphmy. these things are ment to be driven.

I was in SF last week for the first time and noticed TONS of MB diesels. Here in Massachusetts, I rarely see another one.

Plenty of MB 123's around here, even some interesting euro models. It's a "hippie" town, so there are a lot of veggie conversions too. I don't pay much attention to the sedans, but I do try to notice (and take pics of) wagons if I can. Parked next to another W123 300TD

Plenty of benzes around when I used to live in WNC.

When I moved back to SC there was only one other Benz that I would see around. Now my brother drives that car.

Now I'm in Columbia sc and I see a couple around from time to time.

Interesting how there are areas where ppl seem to value the classics more than in other areas.

Here in central Indiana the W123's are really getting scare. I find them very hard to find at the P&P also. Rarely see them on the street and I can see at stop lites that my very attractive 240D does get a lot of eyes. There is an employee at the school system I drive bus for, that does have a W125 with a 300D engine. The car looks rough, brown paint is dead and bundt wheels painted black and it has some rust, but it seems to run pretty well. She runs Illinois plates on it. I am trying to catch her to talk about it, but so far have been unsuccessful.

According to the sole MB/Vovlo indie within 100 miles (and quite possibly the only one in WV), I have the only W115 he's seen in the last 10 years.

When he first started in the early 80s, they were his bread and butter. Now, he gives me his old parts when he comes across them.

There's a small car show/Saturday night cruze in town later today. I'm getting ready to give mine a quick rinse and drive over and see if any other non-American car shows up.

Although I have a pristine trunk, nice interior, and recent paint, I don't expect to get a trophy or anything. I just hope to educate folks and speak with other enthusiasts.

I see a couple of 123's on the road from time to time, usually driven by someone old enough to have, A, bought it new, and B, might have been on a first name basis with Gottlieb Daimler.
This is likely the buckle on the rust belt. What doesn't get salted in the winter, gets it from the ocean atmosphere, so I don't drive it much in the winter. And you should see the reaction I get when I translate the 295k miles to 472000 kms. Most don't believe it is the original drivetrain (as far as I can tell).

Although they might if the saw me fire it up on a chilly morning. (Takes a couple of minutes before the cold-diesel-start-up-smoke goes away.)

I suppose there are maybe 12 to 20 123s around this college town. Used to be alot more common.

Well, dog my cats!

I did get a trophy. Not best of show or anything, but top 40 out of just over 100 cars.

I guess the high mileage certificate/badge and the fact that I was the only diesel accounted for enough to make the judges pick my W115 over 60 Mustangs and Camaros

You kinda know how things are when the top three awards are "Best Mopar", "Best Chevy", and "Best Ford". Nothing wrong with that, mind you, but does serve to illustrate the local car culture.
