fan and fan clutch removal/replacement 300sdl

So this is how i'm going to attack this.

loosen shroud and push towards motor

8mm allen head in the center of the old fan clutch
(try holding the pulley in place by pushing down on the belt, if that doesn't work use a rubber adjustable pipe wrench on it with the belt off)

Go in reverse to install.

That about sum it up??

There is a hole in the water pump flange to lock it. Access from the back, insert a allen wrench or drill bit

get a belt holding tool from harbor freight its a bar with an adjustable foot to engage the pulley from behind, that way it presses the belt into the pulley and you undo the bolt, I have an E300D hence no turbo and dont have the sheetmetal partition that the air intake boot goes into, so I use waterpump pliers with an old rough rag to hold the belt and pulley, works a treat.
