Can anyone beat my muffler hanger deterioration record?

Installed a pair of new muffler hangers 7,500 miles ago (less than a year ago). Both now have cracks throughout and need to be replaced.

Is that a record? Do I get a prize?

Were they made in China?

No you don't get a prize.

In fact, you get just the opposite for buying the cheap Chinese donuts for $1.00. They make a better version for about $4.00:

Search part number 1074920044 .

I've found used OE ones at Pick-N-Pull that were still in good shape. The Canadian ones I put on my first 240D rotted apart in three years. I replaced those with ones from my local Mercedes dealer for $2 each. Don't know where they were made though. Hopefully NOT China.

Happy Motoring, Mark

Tried that...out of stock...no idea when they're coming in. This time I'll try the hard rubber ones and see what happens. But, yeah, ultimately I need to switch over to the ones with chains.

I was missing the rear one on my wagon when I bought it. Just put on 2 heavy duty zip ties instead. Still there!
