Yes, replace that hose and the other two that are in the rear axle area. Just use new hoses.

For the one that screws into the tank, simply drain tank, unscrew it, carefully hacksaw off the crimp, and replace the hose. Use european hose clamps and/or injection system hose clamps to avoid over-tightening problems with standard US hose clamps.

Finally, replace the cigar hose (use factory part here), and then replace the two hoses going to/from the primary filter.

Replace your injector return lines if those look bad.

You should then be good to go.

Sincerely,

PE

drain hose repaired

Well, I got under the car and pushed up on the drain hose. With some effort I was able to push it up enough to fit it back onto the drain in the fuel filler compartment.

Then got the diesel powered steam power washer and cleaned the trunk.

All the interior feltboard is missing. Any one have a 300D parts car?

Thanks, vstech, for changing the color in the thread title.

I have the same color combo on one of my 240D's (in MB tex). I love the interior color, the exterior, no so much, but it does go well with henna. It is period, though...

Henna Red in leather ???

Anyone got a lead on decent Henna Red used leather seats in the 84-85 pattern?

Does anyone have a rust bucket up North that will be parted out in the future?

ARGH

It's always something, isn't it.

The brake pad wear indicator light flickered on this car when I bought it, so.....today is brake pad day. I know I already have a set of brake pads, so break the lug bolts, jack front up, remove wheels, tackle the passenger side first......get the old brake pads off, go to get the brake pads and

oops

wrong size of brake pads. Hmmm......no brake pad paste either.

Call local place, they have pads....I go and get them.....

Get the inside pad installed.....a little resistance on the caliper
The outside ....NOPE. That caliper side is NOT budging. Anyone have brake calipers in Memphis??? Doubtful. Well, the second place I called had one ATE and two Bendix.

Glad I have more than one old Mercedes.......

Maiden Voyage

Well, last night, I drove this car to Storage to grab the radiator that DieselGuy53 needs for his 300SDL and then to the local watering hole for some food and drink.

The car has a small hole in the muffler --- need that fixed for sure.
When shifting gears there is a CLUNK that seems like it is coming from the rearend --- would this be the rearend?
And I hear a bit of a whine ---- probably the rear axles --- both INSIDE boots are split.

Guess I need to explore the rearend of this car, right??

I had a chance to buy one of those about 5 years ago here in Palm Bay. Same color combo. I remember wanting it just because of the interior and the interior was in perfect condition. But, the car was parked under a large oak tree for years and just needed too much. Seems like he only wanted $1500 at the time.

Good find! If the doors, dash, etc... is all in good shape and the car is nice enough... Maybe just have the seats reupholstered?

I suspect the clunk being the axles. I went through all of that when I purchased that rear end and axles from you a few years back (thanks again by the way).

Last Friday (a week ago), I acquired a very good Front passenger seat and complete rear seat in Palomino from greazzer --- he met me in Atlanta. My plan is to first attempt to dye these to match the "henna red" on the door panels.

The transmission is not engaging right away when shifting into D or R --- and the clunk seems associated with this --- interesting enough the rear pumpkin cover has a bead of Blue sealent around it, so I'm thinking someone's been in there recently. Maybe, it's a low transmission fluid level that is causing the transmission not to engage right away.....and once I have that issue resolved, the clunking might disappear. I hope.

Still need axles though --- the inside boots are split at the tops --- something I don't remember seeing when I bought the car.

The drive to work was FUN --- this is going to become my new communter car. It's fun driving ....even from a Red Light. Now, I just have to get the driver's seat covered, dyed, and LOWERED. I can't have my hair touching the sunroof.

anyone seen this before

Okay, here's the situation --- the car does NOT warm up. I'm not talking about the heat; talking about the engine. I'm guessing the thermostat is either stuck open or missing. Anyone else ever see that on these cars? Am I on the right track?

I need the following:muffler
rear axles with good boots

Also --- can hood hinges be replaced WITHOUT removing the front fenders???

the hood hinges can be replaced with the fenders on, it involves a helper to hold the hood and a 13mm IIRC flex head box wrench. Search it, its been covered

Thanks, Joe. I know from experience that w126 hinges cannot be removed without removing the front fenders.

So --- does anyone have a GOOD set of w123 hood hinges??? I need both.
