Right I've found a whole list of specifications in the German language version of the FSM. Chapter 27-001.

Tell me which transmission you have and I'll see if it is in the list (it should be there are 13 pages).

I'm willing to check pressures and work on it however the thing that concerns me is the fix.

I'm pretty damn sure the issue will be with the front pump, seeing as how everything was working until I messed with the front pump.

Let's say my pressure reading comes in 20% under spec, then what?

The pump is obviously operating, so what would cause it to operate slightly under spec?

If I can't answer that question with anything other than wild guesses, I really don't feel like going down that path. Guess I'll need to do some searching and see if I can answer it.

Anyone want to trade an old Volvo for an '87 300sdl?

Well that's an easy fix if it is that - there's nothing you can do to the front pump. It works or it doesn't. Swap it out for one that does (I know I sound rather blase I realise it might not be too easy to get the parts for a reasonable price - however, too_many has a spare transmission that I know of and I'm sure there are more prople out there with bits)

That's exactly what I'm thinking, nothing I can do other than re-replace it.

Which reminds me of what I always hear about the definition of insanity.

If I thought there was any chance I put that pump together wrong I would pull it in a heartbeat, it's just not complicated and it's operating on some level so...

Another front pump and a set of gauges and I'm approaching the cost of a used transmission.

I can't really help with that decision. I'd say you could get close to the cost of a used transmission but who knows if that would work as you want it to?

Anyway tell me the numbers that fit where the XXXs are =>

722.XXX

...and I'll post up the details you'll need if you don't already have them that is.
