For W124 fans

It isn't a diesel, but I think you'll still enjoy it :) -E320 doing the Nurburgring (nice lift at 4 mins 30...)

Wow I wish I could do that with out filling up the foot wells with puke!

In a 300D certainly not ;)

But I'm not the one to judge, because I will be getting a w124 300TD soon :)

I was at Hockenheim ca. April 1971. Before the Formula II races they had a sedan race. There was a GI in a '67 Z28 and a German in a Mercedes 6.9 or whatever that big monster was. I can't remember what all else was in the race, but watching that big Benz was a hoot. It swayed so much and looked like it was understeering like Bentley.

Niether of those cars would hold a candle to a 124 of any description as far as cornering goes. If nothing else, I expect that the 124 has more tire patch than either of those cars back in '71.

The W124 has surprisingly good cornering ability for a car of it's size, even the wagon... I can throw mine around and though the body has a lot more roll than modern cars, it never loses it's footing through twisties... *fingers crossed!*

I almost took it on the 'ring last time I was in Germany, but if I crashed I'd have no way of getting home!

I went through lots of suspension combinations on my sedan until I ended up with HD Bilstiens, stock springs, stock front sway bar and 500E rear sway bar. It is WONDERFUL with no other changes beyond the 500E rear bar. It takes out a NOTICABLE amount of understeer. Makes the car a dream on the hilly, winding 20 miles of sparse trafficed road I drive one way to work every day.

Take the train. Honestly! I got a ticket for anywhere in Holland to London for 99 euros return (including Eurostar) - besides AA 5 star European cover used to be the thing to have... and I think the Nurburgring is classed as a normal road still!
