1994 S350D wont turn off

Can anyone tell me what the troubleshooting steps for diagnosing why this S350D wont shut off after turning the key off. Its funny but a week before this problem started happening I noticed that stop switch on the engine. I was going to look up what it did but when my motor wouldnt shut off I thought I may as well try this lever and wala it shut off. Thats great but its my wifes car and SHE DOES NOT want to do this a few times a day. I think other husbands would agree that most wives would feel the same way.

It's a vacuum problem. Either a bad diaphragm in the vacuum shut off or a leak elsewhere in the system.

Start with hooking a vacuum gauge up. Then proceed with plugging parts of the system, measuring the vacuum and seeing which part has the leak.

With the engine running, hook up a Mity Vac to the shut off valve and pull a vacuum on it. If the engine shuts off, the vacuum problem is elsewhere. If it doesn't the problem is the shut off valve.
