I think you'll get to be the one to order the correct early gasket and take some photos next to the late Elring gasket before you return it. I'd sure like to know what the difference is.

This confirms my suspicions from Elring. Here is their response. They in fact are supplying the late HG and the kits are being sold as replacements for early cars. The stickers on the kits say they are for the newer cars, but you have to read the sticker. All of the vendors I have seen so far are selling this for both early and late cars. So the HG for early cars is dealer only at this point. Not sure about the Victor gasket.

You can use the set 894.028 but not the cylinder head gasket. You need the CHG with OE nr. 6030162620.
Unfortunately the CHG is no longer in our delivery program. Please contact Mercedes directly.

Good info. Time to pester all the WorldPac part vendors to update their catalogs and stop selling the wrong parts, eh?
