Does the following mean that my vacuum pump is going bad?
Does the following mean that my vacuum pump is going bad?
When I pump my brake a few times in succession I lose the "power" part of power brakes engine will not shut off (cant find any missing hoses even though some connections are loose. |

There still could be a leak. Proper way to check the vacuum pump is with a vacuum gauge. Doesn't have to be an expensive one. Disconnect and cap off everything but a single line from pump to gauge. Run engine. Vacuum should be at least 20 inches of mercury on the gauge. If so, pump is probably good. Leak could be in brake booster or elsewhere, depending on what kind of car you have (please add to your signature so we know). If vacuum is below 20 inches, pump could be bad. Pump may be rebuildable, again depending on which car you have.

that's about what mine was doing when the cam exited the valve cover...
ya best park the car, and figure out if it's a leak or not. and even if it's JUST a leak, don't run the car, as the pump is NOT designed to continuously pump the system!
