I love two things, the 114/115 body, and the 617 turbo diesel plant.

I have always wanted a 115 4 door sedan, with a 617 turbo, and a 5-speed overdrive done up rally like.

Since this was never available factory, ive been slowly trying to make this dream car for me.

Dream car

I would like to find a 1995 E300D with a perfect body and interior but a lunched engine, then transplant a '98-99 OM606 turbo (less the electronics) into it. That would provide 170 HP instead of 130 and would retain the simplicity of the 124 chassis (compared to the 210) with minimum (meaning "none") smog stuff.

My existing 1995 E300D has a near-perfect body and interior but also has a near-perfect engine that I can't bring myself to throw away. I'll have to wait until something else comes along.

Jeremy

Back around 1982 I was offered a lime green Dodge Charger Daytona (with wing and nosecone) with a 426 for Cdn $3,000; it was lime green and black, the paint had faded, some cracked vinyl, and a few minor nicks. Don't remember the mileage but I think it was under 50k. I didn't buy it because as a poor student I figured I couldn't afford the gas. In 1999, I was shown one in far worse condition for US$79,000. Talk about your missed opportunities.

w126 300CD

Is there such a thing as a 300CD (Diesel Coupe) in the 126 chassis? If so, that would be my opinion of the "Holy Grail" of MB's. If not, someone should make one!

On topic of this thread,

I suppose I would like a 280SEL in W116 form or 126 with a five speed and otherwise a stripper car... manual seats, glass, heated cloth, A/C of course I need, and that is about it.

Not sure what I would do with an early post war car. There is a POS at my junkyard from the late '50s I would probably drop a modern, domestic performance driveline into and speed about... while keeping it MB stock inside and out. I have a good amount of weird MBs from the '60s to current, so I am okay in that respect.

My holy grail is to just have them all nice and operational someday.
