Bad W123 front suspension - YouTube

Nice.

Ever taken the front shocks off and gone for a drive just for the hell of it? I did a while back -- the wife got in a fender-bender in our "good" 300SD and one of the front shocks snapped, so I swapped the ones over from the parts car. Then I decided to see how the parts car rode with no front shocks.

It's like a pogo stick. Kind of fun, as long as you're expecting it.

I think those were the original MB parts (ball joints and guide rod mounts). The shocks were fairly new, but all of the difficult parts were shot. So, 240k on that setup... Way overdue! The car drives so much better. I forgot how well I had gotten Brown Betty up to. It's been almost two years since she was totaled and I've been driving this loosey goosey since.

Now it's time to swap in my new drive shaft and fully reworked rear suspension... Then paint... Then interior... Then....

bah, those still have plenty of life in them...
wait until I post up the pics of the junk I pulled off the wagon I just traded out... I had PLAY in the TOTALLY RUSTED BALL JOINT...

a 124 of my customer's the front tire is in contact with the fender. why? the ball joint let go in his driveway... and the tire was ON TOP OF THE LCA!!!
