driveshaft ID from 240D

I have a pair of driveshafts that are supposedly from a 240D and they are different lengths. Could the shorter be from a 617/617A and not the 4 banger 616?

Check out the images. The short section is what is a different length. The shorter of the two is just over 24" long.

Thanks.

that would be my guess as well. the 300 automatic shaft is much shorter than both of those.

You might be able to find the colour codes on there somewhere and you might be lucky enough to match those with the codes shown here

Thanks to everyone for your replies.

I did some more measuring after reading your posts. Referencing the pdf document that Army suggested (posted by lutzTD), it seems as though the short shaft maybe from a 300CD/280CE and the long shaft from a 240D (hopefully mated to an early style iron box 4 spd transmission).

I have 2 from 240D`s. one measures 25" and the other 25 1/4" and have a Green and a Red stripe.

One that is 20 3/4" and has a Red, Blue & Green stripe

I`ll throw in the 85 300D automatic. 14 1/2" and has a Red, Blue, yellow Yellow stripe.
