'78 300D Neutral Safety Switch problem...
I just replaced this switch on my nephew's 300D and it started fine for the past several months. Just within the last week the same no start problem has started up again. Turn the key and nothing - all the dash lights are on etc, but no click of the starter...
Usually, I can get it started after shifting into neutral and back to park several times, or by rolling the car a little forward and a little backward... I looked at the new switch to see if the connections were good and things look fine - the old one was oily and grimy, but this one still looks new. Is this a bushing problem? An adjustment issue with the shifter? Anyone provide some help? Thanks, ryan

OK, I think I've figured out the problem - not sure how/if I can fix it. It looks like the connector from the chassis is coming loose. The connector has 4 wires with 'round' female connections that connect to the 4 male pins on the switch. My connector - from the chassis is broke and won't 'snap' together right.
I have tried to rig a fix for now, but does anyone know if this connector is available? ryan

Look under the "Parts for sale" section for someone parting out one from this era. They can cut the wires and you can splice it in.
Just last week I ripped the same plug out and had a no start situation on my 79 with no clicking. I had been messing with the 12v plug to the cigar lighter and pulled that wire running to the trans out. I replugged it and all is well.
