w210 sunroof issues

my sunroof intermittently starts sticking/acting weird

75% of the time it is fine, and of course worked perfect while the car was at the shop today so i could not show the mechanic

anyway i read a lot of threads on this and my car already has the upgraded 2 screw cover thing and they both seem tight

so i am thinking maybe cables????

any thoughts?

If you didn't replace the cables when you replaced the plastic covers, that could be the problem. I know mine would not straighten out after haning got mangled whn the 1 screw cover plates came loose. Or maybe the cable has popped out again?

The best on-line thread is, in my opinion, this one:
W210 Sunroof woes and how to cure them - Mercedes-Benz Owners' Forums

Using a good lube is another issue. I used a sail track dry lube - referenced near the end of that thread.

If you have good cables, cover plates in position and good lube, should work unless the drive has somehow got messed up
