Bosch primer pumps

Did everyone with old style pumps get new ones on eBay? Or buy a spare. $6 includes shipping.

Are you sure of the Part Number is for your Vehicle.
For my 300D as near as I could tell the part number is 2447010038.

The one I saw on eBay for $6.99+ shipping part number is 2447222126.

That's the one, $6.99 FREE shipping. If you search on eBay for this number you'll see other venders selling the same part and listing both numbers. Or use google like I did.

fits 617.952

Just to confirm this part number does fit my '82 300TD. It even comes with a new gasket. Bit improvement, thanks for the tip.

From googling I believe these to be fairly universal, this part# is referenced in a Unimog forum, among others. (so I now have Mog parts on my car, which is cool). ymmv.

Here is at least some evidence that that could be ture:
Genuine Bosch Primer Hand Oil Diesel Fuel Feed Pump 2447010038 2447222126 | eBay

I still cannot find a regular part seller that makes a comment on an interchange.

I couldn't find those low cost ones either.

What bothers me, is that alibaba lists Bosch pumps made by Chinese companies. Surely these must be illegal knock-offs? And with some on eBay for $6.00 and some for $23.00, perhaps that could be the reason? I know Bosch have a big problem with Chinese reproductions of their parts.

Ecklers show this one on their site as a Mercedes part when searching for part 000 090 00 50 - looks like old style and just $12.95. At my dealer, the part they have is the new style Bosch and it is C$55!

Using 000 090 00 50, AA comes up with new style for $16.00

Then I found this one on eBay which looks like a deal if it is genuine as they say. Seller has part number muddled, but 000 090 0050 looks right.

This site confirms the change in part number from 000 090 0050 to 000 090 8850

My existing pump is a Febi, but it looks same as Bosch newstyle. It's about 5 yrs old. Have had it on and off 3 times recently because of fuel leak. Bought new seals, put in some sealant. It doesn't leak while running but sometimes (not always), I see some fuel around the seal. Don't know if it is the seal leaking or the pump.

Decided to order one of the $9.95 eBay genuine pumps!

I have a suspicion that all current replacement new style primer pumps originate from China. The box is well identified as to the bosh brand with made in China on the box. I could be wrong of course.

The counterfeiters put the parts in boxes that are identical to Bosch or whichever manufacturer they have chosen to copy.

It is true that some of the major parts companies have manufacturing in Asia, but then you still get genuine parts. It is the fake copies that are the problem.

There is a ton of stuff on the net about the knock-offs. Here is one about Porsche fuel pumps:
BOSCH 044 real and knockoffs --read this-- - RX7Club.com

Another one about a p[arts bust in Middle east:
30,000 counterfeit auto parts destroyed in Sharjah | Alrroya

I somehow doubt a fake primer pump would be a huge problem, but key engine or safety parts could.
