Anyone ever drive their diesel up the James Bay Road?

An item on my informal bucket list is to take one of my diesels up the James Bay Road into Northern Quebec. Solitude, natural beauty, and the open road....and not a lot else.

Anyone ever done it? How was it?

Something with Rover in it. There are lots of pictures on here somewhere of him installing the 616 or 617 in the vehicle.

THe road is paved all the way, so I would think you should have no problem doing it with your diesel Benz (or even a SmartCar for that matter!). Obviously, since you're going to be far from "civilization" make sure everything is in good order before leaving, and bring a few spares along just in case. If your Benz is speed challenged, be prepared to deal with rushed big rig drivers on that road, I would think. Have a good trip. I also want to drive there with my Dodge Cummins and Alaskan camper, as well as the Trans-Labrador, Dempster, and Alaska highways, some day... The 4x4 HD truck is for the more marginal condition (depending on the season) of these other northern roads, some of which are still gravel, for 100s of miles.
