Climate control servo WTF?!

Has anyone taken out the climate control servo and upgraded to a system that doses not need the servo? Mine is hosed and it is taking up room in the engine compartment. Any info, pictures and/or procedures would be great! Thanx again fella's

Get in touch with this guy. He has done a good job sorting a 1980SD a/c system.

for what its worth, kent bergsma sells both an inexpensive bypass kit, and a very expensive electronic upgrade servo replacement kit

I swapped in a manual system from a 240d into an '80 CD; I've also read where folks have upgraded to an acc 3 system; either way you'd have an easier time of it if you have the parts car donor -- besides the hardware there will be wiring harnesses and lots of fiddly bits to deal with. I'm very pleased with the manual conversion. D Morrison's thread on cleaning evaporator coils has all the info you need to do a job like this with lots of pics and great instructions.
