Need wiring diagram for 83 300SD

Can anyone provide a wiring diagram for an '83 300SD?

It was hot as hell yesterday and my reserve tank boiled over after I stopped the car. I think that happened because the cooling fans aren't working.

Thanks.

aux fan

I found one here
http://handbook.w116.org/ETM%5C80SD.pdf

Only the Aux fan is electric. The main fan is a clutch fan, if it spins too easy the clutch is not engaging.

Boil over following shut down is often due to pressure leak(s). Have you tested your radiator cap lately?

I have not. Thanks for the tip!

The site you linked to is for the previous generation, the W116. Do you know if that wiring diagram is accurate for mine, a W126? I'll have a look at the car and see if the two correlate with each other.

At best, the aux fan is a relatively minor player when it comes to engine cooling. If you noticed, what was your indicated coolant temp prior to the shut down and subsequent boil over? What were your driving conditions prior to shut down?

Unlike the W116, the W126 aux fan does not operate on the basis of engine coolant temperature. It only comes of if the a/c refrigerant warms up adequately.

I have a 126 too but this schmatic has the aux fan diagram on page 120. It was what I needed to check the wiring on my car.

If may have been what you needed, but it isn't correct for an '83 300SD. And it definitely is not exactly correct.

On my Mercedes the Auxillary fan kicks on from the coolant fan sensor and/or the A/C temp switch. My coolant switch was shorted to ground.
Autohauz has a new one as inexpensive as $7, part no. 0065453924
