Window wiring confusion

Hello, I have a 1980 300td and I'm having troubles with the right front window. At first the switch did nothing, so I opened the center console to find it was unplugged, but also that the cap for the wire housing was gone so the wires were loose. I tried to wire it according to the wire diagram attached, which I understood to be:

Red Black = 5
Green Yellow = 4
Black White = 3

But the problem is the pins are on the holes marked 1, 2, 3. Not 3, 4, 5. So I wired it as shown in my crude diagram:

Red Black = 3
Green Yellow = 2
Black White = 1

And now the window makes a rapid thudding noise and doesn't budge at all. So, did I wire it correctly? Am I using the wrong diagram or reading the diagram wrong? Why don't the numbers match with the diagram and where the pins for my switch are? Thanks.
