87 300d oil in radiator

87 300d oil in radiator...if its head gasket or head whats the best place to get parts...also its a #14 head...shop wants 1300 for head gasket parts and labor...does anybody know where can i get a full overhaul kit for this car...i would like to overhaul it and keep it...car is very clean and im not planning to get rid off it any time soon...thanx

Are you sure its not trans fluid? I think these have the trans cooler integrated with rad?

If it is engine oil its probably hg, and hopefully not cracked head. Any recent overheating?

no overheating here i watch my gauges like i do in my 18 wheeler....and oil looks black mixed with water ...i dont think this car have a transmission cooler...

Anybody ...if the head is ok do I need to take it to any machine shop to check it for cracks...

unless the car's trans cooler has been bypassed, it does have a cooler.
agreed, the black would be engine oil.
if it's not been overheated, a head gasket change should fix you up.
call phil at the number up top, and get a quote on a head gasket, and plan to have the head inspected for cracks... ya might as well have the valves done along with the guides while it's out.
worst case would mean you have to change the head. #22 is the newest, but it requires different injectors and lines... money money money...

well im gonna find out in couple days whats wrong with the car...is 1300 a lot for parts and labor...also im gonna have all vacum lines and pads replaced inside the dash its 1100 parts and labor...and i also found this site adsit company out of indiana they seem to have everthing for mercedes...

At the very least you should have a Precision Straight Edge put a crossed the Head in the areas that the Manual recommends to see if the Head is warped; since that is directly related to the Head Gasket sealing. (Would not hurt to do it to the Block also.)

And,Yes it is possible for a Head to warp even if it has not overheated.

adsit company after reading everthing im gonna deal with someone else...head should be off next week and im gonna make sure its gets checked out...
