I take that back. You all have convinced me...I decided to try to get the set on ebay for 60 bucks, then will purchase the valve cover gasket from fastlane - it's only 7 bucks for my 617.950. Figure I don't need the DVD since I found a set of valve adjustment procedure links by whunter. Wish me luck on the ebay auction!

I'll post an update once I get some of these adjustments / procedures done, and I'll try my best to take a video before and after of the engine running, as it might be helpful to others.

You can make many special tools.
Home Made Special Tools, This is where members can share how they made special tools

* If you have smoking, this frequently makes it worse.
Q: ALDA removal (just to test and see what happens to low speed power) and reinstall.

* This is critical, and should be done ASAP.
Q: Valve adjustment (soon as I get wrenches)

* Never a bad idea.
Q: Diesel purge

* I disagree, run the filter until it plugs up or for a year.
Q: Change fuel filters (again...I hate to do this cause I just changed them a month ago, but it seems like most recommend you change the filter after a purge)

* I agree it is a good idea to break up - clean out the trash before installing new nozzles.
Q: Most people recommend you purge before changing out nozzles.

* If you have the equipment, and the time = have fun.
Q: Compression test

* Yes, the correct procedure is to rebuild, pop test, check spray pattern. Note: If you don't have the equipment and/or money, it is your car = IMO rebuild and hope for the best.
Q: Rebuild / pop test (hopefully can find diesel shop to do it) injectors with new nozzles and reinstall
