Good indeed

About 100 F here today and I cruised over a hundred miles wrapped in vintage Sonderclasse goodness Knuckles got a little cold but other than that no complaints.

I do need to sort my CC but I never use it in my other cars...

I was repairing a parking meter in the heat.. Once I was done I took off my over shirt. After a few minutes of driving I had to turn the fan down, I was getting too cold

Mix of R290 and R600a. Car was converted to R134a when the engine was swapped (or before perhaps). Would use R12 but don't want to diddle with disassembling everything to remove what I assume is PAG oil... not sure. If I was going that far into it I would replace the compressor and take the dash & HVAC box out to clean the evaporator.

Factory small tube condenser and dual aux fans. I believe the compressor is original to the chassis. Like all 603s it's a Sanden unit. I cleaned the evaporator the best I could reaching around through the blower housing. Radiator fan and clutch are new.

NE Louisiana. Outside temp on the gauge says 99. 70 mph on I-20. Temp dial on A/C set at 22. Recirc on. Center vent temp 42 degrees. Very happy.

1986 300sdl with new A/C compressor ( nippondenso ), new R134A expansion valve, new drier, new pressure switch on drier, New Behr inside blower motor ( just installed this week) running R134A.

In town on Friday, stop and go traffic, 99 degrees, vent temp at 50 degrees, with front single aux fan jumpered on at High speed. Not too bad, I can live with it.

How hot is it?

Been 2 weeks of steady over 100 degrees here in So. Colo. Finally had a cool front come through. Rain helped firefighters.

98 E300 with new compressor and accumulator with switches giving 48-50 degrees differential with ambient temp. R134 totally stock system.

Very greatful for a good repair.

Hardware store sign says: Its been so hot that the squirrels are using pot holders to grab their nuts.

Yep, that is excellent.

The SD was out in 96°F. ambients and the best vent temp that it could achieve was 54°F. It took nearly 25 minutes to ease down to that point at 2650 rpm.

Once the rpm dropped below 1500 rpm in the city, the vent temp quickly climbed to just under 60°F.

Not bad for an R4 compressor with R134 refrigerant, but no match for the 'Denso with HC refrigerant.

An update to this thread: I didn't know at the time, but the 350SDL came with a parallel flow condenser from the factory and the 17cc Denso compressor (the 3.0 got the 15cc). I'm doing some more work on this soon, hopefully I"ll see even lower vent temps
