Any one in the SanDiego area willing to lend a little help?

Hi how is it going, My friend Matt of many years moved from Portland to San Diego about 2 years ago. He bought a (believed to be) One owner low mile w123 CD turbo recently, very nice condition, I just talked to him yesterday and he said the car is starting to act up. he had some one look at it who claimed to know MB diesels, and said person told him there seems to be an injector problem of some sort. My friend is not very Diesel savvy, but very willing to learn, and smart.
Beacuse he is still kinda new to the area and shy, he does not know many people that own these cars to ask for advise, I was wandering if any one in the area might have some time to take a peek at it and give a diagnosis. Im not saying I dont trust the OP's diag. It would just be nice to get a second opinion from my friends on the forum, He also doesnt know where to get the parts used to fix it and I thought the nice People on this site could shove him in the right direction.
I wish I was down there to help him, Im a little better at finding resources it seems like.
If anyone has the time and is interested, Let me know and I can give you his info
Otherwise he said he is probably gonna put the coupe up for sale.

Many thanks in advance to anyone willing to lend help.

Thanks, I will pass that on to him.
I was hoping someone on this forum might have a little spare time to lend for a diagnosis, so he didnt have to spend money to find out he needs to spend more money. but If this is all I can get then thats what ill take, thanks again!

Give him all the help we can. Encourage him to join the Forum now. Nice that you can help him, but surely is better if he can list his problem directly instead of second hand. Besides that, there is a real shortage of guys with nice red CD 300 D's on the forum.

Since the various parts work together as a system often is more than one possible cause.

Paying someone to find out what it is and fixing it is sadly costly.

You might ask if he has ever had a Valve Adjustment done on the Car.

I fully agree with you about joining the forum, Ive been telling him about this group, he has never joined a forum or blog site before and seems to feel like he would be lost, but I will keep hounding him about it. this is his very first Diesel Merc. he didnt even know how cool of a car it really was when he got it. He got it for a real good price at the time, thats one of the reasons why he owns it now, he also owns a charcoal 05 Chevy Duramax crewcab lifted and it gets like 15 mpg and he said he was going broke with that truck and remembered how I always brag about my diesel Benz and its MPG so thats kinda the other reason he was looking at what he was at the time.

Thanks again for the response, I'm waiting for him to send me a couple pics of the car, Ill be sure to post them.

I don't have a lot of time or significant expertise, but if he wants to swing by after work one day, I might be able to offer advice. Pm me.

He can't get one of the mechanics there to help him sort out his problems?

Davidlee, a good looking couple of friends yuou have there. Maybe his GF can sign up on the forum and we can walk her through what ever the problems are. then she can slap him into shape.

This is proof that the Dealers do not want to work on older cars. most likely no one working there was around when these were new, and have no idea what that weard looking thing is under the hood.

They just want to sell new cars and then after about 8 yrs, have no use for you unless you are purchassing another new one.

Iam just 500 miles too far north to give him a hand.

Your friend needs to join the forum as getting info or seeking help thru a third party will not get the whole story on the issues.

I am NO super-duper mechanics. I can take a peek and offer my opinion. It seems that he cannot be that shy with a 'Macho' looking lifted Crew cab. If he mingles with MBZ mechanics then he cannot be short of helpers, tools or working space. PM me if necessary.
