How to replace throttle cable 95 e300d

Throttle adjusting barrel is maxed out so I bought an oem replacement from Phil. Figured the cable is stretched. I removed the cover in the footwell and can see how it attaches. Before I start this job, does anyone have any tricks or tips? Thanks.

The cable is adjustable by the footwell also. You can wind it in or out to give more adjustment range up at the throttle linkage.

update

There is a rubber "nut" on the cabin side of the firewall that holds the cable housing. This nut doesn't thread on, it snaps onto the cable housing.

You're right benedict, adjustment can also be made at the pedal. Seems overly complicated. Why would you need to make cable tension adjustments at the pedal and at the engine?

Will post pictures later.

I think the adjustment at the throttle is for fine adjustments to be made. The cables do stretch over time to the point there is no more travel for fine tuning, so giving the base adjustment (down at the accelerator pedal) a few turns will give you more travel at the throttle linkage.
