I copied the only other two images of the Silver 300TD I could find from the Google Street View. The show as images taken in July 2009. The first one doesn't help much; although, it does have similarly colored items in the back as you can see in the auction item. The second image has the shows the right, but not left, side headlight wiper is out of whack. Same as the auction item as seen in the third picture below.

Given the totality of the circumstances, I believe the silver 300TD is one in the same.

I made a little more progress on cleaning the rear carpeting. I was not totally impressed with the carpet soap I was using this time around; it should have done better. Nevertheless, it is an improvement. Note there are before and after shots. I started cleaning on just one side for comparison pictures before getting the other side.

I replaced the delivery valve washers and orings. It made a nice difference not having to smell the leaking diesel each time I stopped. Not a drip now - except for the weeping injector return lines. Those I can replace anytime.

The glow plug relay fuse blew, so I replace it with an 80 amp blade type fuse I ran out of the relay cover with some 6 Gage THHN conductor. I don't want to be stuck having to get a MB DIN fuse from a dealer. Now I can get a replacement from any auto parts store. I'll post a picture of that shortly.

Oh, it passed inspection today. I'm thinking now of changing it from an antique tag pleasure use to a daily driver.

Coming soon, now that I've found my camera battery charger cable.

NAPA sells that 80 AMP strip fuse for 50 cents, and they are pretty cheap from online vendors like this site too, My car does not have it but has the 30 A for the blower, I have taped a new spare fuse in my cars centre console cubby hole box.

What sort of glue did you use to reattach the door vinyl? Me and another member are having the same peeling issue.

Unbelievable job you've done on the car! Seriously one of the most abused looking interiors I've seen transformed into looking cleaner than the carpet in my car (that I paid nearly 10x what you did).

It is not snooping. It is there for anyone to see.

Till now I have been able to get a thin enough foam sheet that is supposed to go between the vinyl and B pillar trim piece. Any suggestions?

Well after months of patiently looking, I finally source a correct rear bumper! I pulled this one off a 1989 300TE at Crazy Rays in Jessup, Maryland for a whopping $42.00 (+ $1.00 core). I'd seen about 5 or 6 other ones, but they either had the >1990 chrome with the smooth finish or were significantly damaged.

There appeared to be no rust under the bumper, so that's a good thing. Oh, and I did also fix the backwards driver's side flap vents which were reversed.

Since last posting I also installed a new HD Radio with CD player, front auxiliary input, and USB iPhone/iPod feature I source off EBay for about $68. Additionally I grabbed a center console roll-top box and lower third row seat cushion. I replaced the delivery valve o-rings and seals, and the drip line hoses, so now no more diesel smell.

Now I can get around to the paint (whenever), but there is no rush. Actually I've found the sight of a burned quarter panel makes merging in traffic rather easy.

Driving this has been better than I've ever imagined. The cruise control works perfectly and it just purrs along at highway speeds. The heated seat is great when getting into the car cold. I don't think I'll ever be able to do without this feature again.

I've been averaging about 28 MPG, but it dropped a bit when I put in cargo top cross bars. I'll pull them off and see if it makes a difference. I'm just about 300 miles short of 200,000. I plan on taking a bunch more pictures for that.

I'd have to go all in to be satisfied with that, i.e. front and sides as well. I don't think the expense for this beater is justified, particularly after I'd just replaced the front bumper with a pre-90 version. I did think very hard about it though, and I may have gone there if the right color cropped up.

If you ever get up to Ct or have someone driving through, I have a a lot of early saffron interior pieces that I would gladly donate to your cause...

Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier, could have saved you a ton of work!
