Anyone recognize this rubber part found under battery tray?

You may recall that I had that plugged drain under the battery tray of my 240D a while back. I've been cleaning up the area under there, getting ready to POR the rusty areas, and I found this rubber piece mixed in with the rusty chips of the old battery tray. Any idea of what it is?

The small metal pieces on the paper towel are the last remnant of the washer nut that was holding the bottom of the tray to the fender, by the way; when I went to work on it with the Dremel it was just an unrecognizable lump of rust! I'm getting better at dealing with these.

I think it might go on the hood. Acts kinda like a striker / damper / anti-vibration.

I just don't recall seeing one that looked like that. Does it have an MB logo / number?

It goes on the pinch rail of the inner fender. There should be one on each side and they press into a square hole.

As in the cover that goes over the hole between the inner wheel arch and the engine bay where the front torsion bar pokes its way through?

Hood Hinge Bumper

The rubber piece attaches to the upper wheel house structure and serves as a bumper for the hood hinge assembly when in the retracted position. The bumpers are present on both the left and right sides.

See the left side of the attached image.

Someone needs to highlight or circle this for me. I don't see it in the left side of the image.

I've got a feeling Gastropodus is looking at part number 92 in this picture

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/...snapshot18.jpg

And I think Chad's talking about 74

And at first I thought he meant another bit that isn't on this picture!

I think most of those hood spring bumpers are missing, with time they dry out and fall off. I have tried to keep the one on the 85 in place, but won`t stay on.

Just checked the 240, and they both are still in place.

Wonder if the part is still available, or another unobtanium part?
