That looks a lot like my green 300D. Sadly mine blew a head gasket and is now on the fast track to be dismantled

Send me a PM price for your body.
I might trans plant.
A Texas body will have 0.000001% of the Michigan corrosion.

Yikes

A warning to other W115.114 300D owners.

There are two transmission throttling rods, running between the engine block and starter.

If (with the battery connected) either one comes off the forward ball - pivot arm, BAD things happen.

In my case the inner rod fell off, shorting across the lower starter positive terminal.

Turn the key to crank, and Massive Smoke, battery and starter damage.

The damage has been repaired.
The rods are zip tied together just enough to prevent them from falling off again.
ASAP, I plan to make a backup wire collar, because of the location (exhaust manifold heat).

Wow I'm surprised that that isn't a more common problem. Perhaps W114 owners just live with it? (smoke and all)

I will find a way to either make the later OM617 mounts work, or fabricate a totally new solution.

.

geez, that price is high.

looking at mine, it looks like the socket cap screw holes to bolt the mount to the subframe are similar to a later 617 mount.

The only thing the later mount is missing is that nice threaded center for that big bolt that makes so much sense.

There is a slight depression in the top looking at one in my hand right now, I bet you could run a big bolt up from underneath, and thread a nut onto it to hold it into place, then the end of the bolt could go through the mount arm for the 115, and you could screw on a nut on top.

I am investigating Helicoil Helicoil Inserts and TIME-SERT Threaded inserts for stripped threads to fit the OM617 mount.

Chuckle

Chasing parts.
The hood Star fell over going down Telegraph road.

Quick stop:
The bottom spring cross lock pin was missing.
The Star fell off when I touched it.
Felt naked driving without the gun sight.

I made a new bottom spring cross lock pin, and installed the Star again.
Very happy I didn't loose the original Star $70.00 each, ouch.

Is your daughter literally driving around with that bear strapped to the roof?
