Grin

The ebay fog lights arrived.
The exterior is very good condition.
Lenses are perfect.
The reflector surfaces are corroded.

The plan for the reflectors is:
* A light sand blast (walnut media).
* Naval jelly.
* Primer and paint.
* Aluminum tape on the inner surface.

Here is what the old injectors looked inside..
The nozzles where replaced with MB# 0010172912 and pop tested before installing the rebuilt injectors.

The good news

A few issues repaired:

* Climate control blower works on all speeds.
* Vacuum locks working, only took 3 hours + six feet of vacuum hose.
* Temperature gauge steady after cleaning grounds.
* Left rear door lock works, the outside handle button was jammed with corrosion, cleaned, exercised and lubricated.
* Right rear door lock works, the child safety lock was engaged and corroded in place, cleaned, exercised and lubricated.

seriously...

I think whunter should be advertising his singleminded purpose and put out an ad "I will finish your unfinished projects, and make you feel ashamed of yourself all at the same time"

whunter, I have an iron 4-speed and 115 clutch pedal assembly that you need I think.

Rust present in a 114/115 the part that Failed on this car should be inspected. If still decent grease it to help hold it. Serious rust on this part is far from unknown. I was doing weld repairs here on 114s same part twenty five years ago. 114/115 identical setup if I remember .

It is hard to get a decent set of reflectors for those bumper mounted foglights on those models. Replacement reflectors no longer available from the original manufacturer.

Tagging the thread for future reference, I just bought a 1976 300D, one-owner, 108k.

So far: transmission service, fluid/filter; air, oil, fuel filters, oil change; R+R driver's door lock, wouldn't lock; inspect driveline discs, fine; new shocks front and rear, Bilsteins; subframe mounts; new tires, whitewalls!; all new brake lines; new thermostat; new Bosch alternator and Interstate battery; all new belts; upper and lower radiator hoses and hoses at firewall; valve adjustment; all belts replaced.

Still needs a new windshield and seal. Vacuum locks are inoperable so I lock them all by hand. I'd like to do a diesel purge but the supply prefilter is below the battery tray so I'm not sure how to do it without taking the battery out. Would also like to update the glow plugs and ream the prechambers but I have read of a car not starting after this so I'm sort of taking an "ain't broke/don't fix" position on some of these things.

Answer

to a PM question.

On the temperature sensor pin cleaning, and locations.

A bore brush is handy for cleaning the female pin.
