Save your old exhaust hanger donuts

Stuff them between the head and air cleaner to stop the rattling. Now there's need to repair the broken air filter bracket.

Also, don't bother spending the $2 on new exhaust donuts. That's what zip ties are for.

Perhaps the title should be "Why we hate the PO."

They could be used for temporary repairs. But I do the best to replace with new or if the part is big and or expensive with good used. that is the only smart way to repair a problem. But your idea is a good temporary fix.

I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic, after discovering a PO "repair" job.

Yes, it always amazes me how people rig things that are cheap & easy to do right. I bought correct parts from Phil for ~ 2 bucks each. Every car I've looked at has needed them.

I need to see what holds the tube that drops from the air cleaner in place. All of mine are flopping and rattling. I know Mercedes wouldn't have put up with that. Also need to fix the air cleaner bracket. 2 out of 3 are broken.

I think i have a front set of Bilstein Comforts available. I was surprised that PO put something decent on. The rears are shot but I bought a set of HDs thinking I needed all 4. The Comforts are on the front & I'll change all so I have a matching set.

Other cars are 78 Datsun Z & 00 Ram truck so I'm used to a harsh ride which makes the HDs seem like riding on air.

I have a 78 Datsun Z in the garage, I guess maybe one day I should fix it so I can have a car that accelerates haha. Let us know how the HD's ride, I can't decide if I want to put them all around on my w123, or just in the rear

I already have HDs on my other SD & like them. Brian says they are too harsh. If you like the Z, they aren't harsh.

My Z has Tokikos 5 way around. Bushings are done. Interior is fine. I parked it for winter & license ran out then I got busy. Planned are megasquirt and turbo from 83T that is at my cabin.

Hopefully, I'll strip the Z parts car before winter but truck needs syncros which means trans, clutch, flywheel, hydraulics & rear main. Dumb assed engineers moved truck slave cylinder from outside to inside bell housing and made it 1 piece with master.
