116 window regulator frustration
I am in the process of replacing the drivers side front regulator on my 1980 300sd. I removed the old one without much of a problem. The new regulator which is a mtc made in india is under a lot of tension. I cannot move the arm so I can get it in the slot while at the same time lining up the holes for the regulator and motor window. When I replaced my passenger side regulator with a genuine mercedes part, there was no tension and the job was quite easy. My question is two fold. First, is there a lot of tension on this regulator because it is cheap aftermarket part, and second does any one have an idea of how I can safely release some of the spring tension so I can work with this part?

Take a good close look; you compare the parts do you see any dimensional differences?
This is the fist thread I have seen concerning this subject. I am not sure who can give an answer. Of course it is not common for aftermarket parts not to fit properly or need a little hand fitting. For 123 Dorman makes front Window Regulators for them. I do not know if they are Manual or for Power Windows. They might make the 116s also.
