the 300sd passed its field test.

I bought this 84 300 sd a couple of months ago, and it recently passed it's long haul test with a 500 mile trip roaring around most northern coastal california. The motor runs like a champ at 278K, and the outside looks good aside from the trunk and roof clear being gone. The interior is a little "eh", but everything else works for the most part. It has a little clunk going on somewhere in the front that I have to hunt down, but it goes perfectly straight down the road. This thing is a beast. It's been fun cleaning her up a bit. Guy I bought it from had NINE kidsJudging from his maintenance records; looks like he was getting fleeced by a shop or just had a ****ty mechanic. New battery and alternator most recently when it really needed a 48 dollar starter solenoid. He must have been tired of spending 500 dollars on it all the time. oh well, his loss

looks good in the hood and in the woods

yes, he's on the roof. He loves going in/out of the sunroof. It gets the best looks. Actually makes for a nice slide down the back.

The clunk may be guide rod mounts. Guide rod adjusts caster & rubber goes bad. I needed a press to R&R the rod after the carrier was in my hand.

PS, my son knows better than to climb on the cars.
