location of electric window diode
Hi All
My electric windows stopped working. I found they work with the doors open and this is to do with the little switch on the door pillar (they stop again when I press the switch, always wondered why there were 2 switches there!!). Following the Haynes wiring diagram the only other suspect items in the circuit are the relay and a diode. Can anyone tell me where the relay and diode are located? All fuses are fine and the switches are ok. Car is 1987 300D, 124 type. Thanks in advance  |
Gerard, I'm working a similar problem on the seat adjustment on an 1987 190D. I've been told that the diode should be on the Electrical Center (fuse box) but I can't find it. You might look there. It is allegedly a simple 2 pin device. Good luck.

Found it!!
I did a few jobs on the car recently and when I was at it, decided to have another search for the diode. Its in the Relay box, behind the fuse box and is the last item in the box. The diode was indeed old and in bad condition and I'm waiting on a replacement from a friend. Its easy to cross reference the diode numbers so no need to go to Mercedes. Mine was 1N4003.

On the 190D the diode for the seats is plugged into the botom of the fuse box.
