New to the forum, lots of great info
Hey guys, I am new to this forum but wanted to say thank you for all the great info on here. Back in March I acquired an 87 300d with the om603 engine for $1500, and you guys have saved me a number of times on here! Searching through threads I was able to figure out that I needed to replace my vacuum pump before certain destruction, fixed my tilt/slide sunroof, fixed some wiring issues, fixed my cruise control, fixed the climate control and a/c, installed keyless entry, rebuilt the fuel thermostat, fixed my transmission hard shifting woes (leaky vacuum line behind the passenger headlight). I will post pictures of my car soon...it has 263,00 miles with the original #14 head, but no signs of head issues yet. - Tim

Welcome to the forum with a great car!
no issues is great, but in addition to changing the vacuum pump, it's imperative for you to replace the fan and clutch from a TURBO 606 (98-01 I think... I got the blade from a 98, and it was 48.00 at the MB Dealer... 11 plastic full width blades. GOOOOOOOD cooling) oh, and post some pictures up when you get a chance! we love pictures!

Will that fan and clutch bolt on to the water pump I have now, or do I need to change the water pump too? Thanks for the tip btw!

Fan and clutch from a 98-99 E300 will bolt to an 87 300D water pump. You might have to trim the fan or the turbo inlet pipe -
