Another oil thread? Well done Charlie - keep 'em coming...

Hmm so you saw 3 gallons on the shelf.

Does that mean that they had almost sold out?

Does it mean the oil had eaten its way through the container?

Does it mean the shop has little confidence in selling the stuff and only ordered 3 gallons to see how it would sell?

A friend of mine gave me green chain lubricant (for bicycles) that was made from algae. Perhaps this is the same.

I have been too scared to use it on my bike chain, in case it doesn't work as well as my normal industrial chain lube. So I ride a bike to save money and reduce my petroleum usage, but I am unwilling to use a free, algae-based chain lube. IRONY?

When I only saw 3 gallons on the shelf, I thought as you listed in #3.

Classic - just like the cheapo olive oil they sell at our local supermarket. Guaranteed to come out faster than it goes in...

That`s a good one Army.

The sustainability advantages of G-OIL products are the fundamental result of our use of renewable, non-fossil based resources

So, replacing 1% of conventional oil with G-OIL Bio-Based Advanced Full Synthetic is like planting 2.8 million trees!

Great, now I don`t have to go out and plant those stupid trees, rake up the damn leaves, and smoke out the neigborhood with my burn piles.

I use it in my gasoline cars and it seems to be pretty good stuff, especially when you take advantage of the rebates that they have. In the past they have ran $26 rebates. Just make sure that you send in the original receipt and not a copy or they won't accept your rebate. Don't ask me how I know. Also not to stir up a dino vs. synthetic war but it is synthetic.

High VI vegoil based esters can make good basestocks if oxidation can be controlled. They are getting there on that front...

But I dont believe they sell a current-spec diesel add pack, and so there are better options out there.

In today's market, you could take ANY product from cars to oil to appliances to video games to dog food, leave the product the same and put it in a container with a label claiming that it is "green" and increase sales. Don't know how long it will take for people to catch on to the trick though.

They even have "green" disposable diapers now. Something that is designed to fill with baby crap and throw away!
