This has happened to me a couple times.
I was told to do the following through the CL support forum:

1) Delete your ad and wait a couple of days
2) Create an account and do not link it to gmail
3) Do not use any hypertext mark up (bold, colors etc)
4) Do not link photos to the page but instead attach them using the method craigslist provides
5) Do not add too much info in the title (like 1979 Mercedes benz 300D show car 50mpg 150mph top speed new inspection!!!)

No one gave me an explanation as to why but it seems to work.

C list seems to be fussy sometimes. I've had issues replying to ads needing to send 2 to 7 emails and sometimes only the last one gets through. This has happened way too many times for it to be the person on the other end to be ignoring the ad. I've also replied to a friends ads and he never go them. I've used AOL or Gmail with similar results.

E bay owns a chunk of C list but I'm not sure what influence they have. Even though C list is free, the free users are the ones that give C list their status. This status allows C list to charge ,in certain markets , for ads. ( This is where the $ comes from. )

C list does not have live ( or dead help ), the forum is made up of other posters and trolls so don't expect much help there.

The post comes up when searching for 300sdl.

Being a dealer, advertising in the " By Owner" section is disingenuous. I don't buy from someone that miss classifies their ad because if they are untruthful about their selling status, they might be untruthful about the item. ( Buying and selling 4 cars in 8 months qualifies as fliping cars = dealer Vs someone that buys a car / drives it a year then sells one per year. )

Not according to RI law. I'm not a dealer; I'm an MB enthusiast who buys and sells MBs below the threshold that would require a dealer license. Specifically, I can sell up to three cars per calendar year without having a dealer's license (since I'm clearly not a dealer...no license...I am an owner). So far this year I've sold two (I sold one last December). It would be good to get your facts straight before alleging that someone is being untruthful.

Here's the exact language from dmv.org: "Rhode Island classifies anyone who sells four or more cars in one calendar year to be an official motor vehicle dealer. If you meet this criteria, you are required by law to have a valid dealer's license."

As to CL, yes, I've found their anonymized email very unreliable....so I always provide mine.

Roy, a question for you. After following your advice, my ad has stayed up consistently; every time I do I search for "300SDL" the ad appears. Thanks again.

However, when I search for my ad using searchtempest, it won't appear. Any guesses as to why? Just trying to get maximum exposure.

Thanks.

Searchtempest was sued and lost, they are forbidden to search - access craigslist.org ever again.

But they appear to be operating. Maybe not fully so.

Some good discussion here: http://realneo.us/content/crazedlistorg-stopped-whats-story-did-craigs-list-interfere

Here's what searchtempest has to say about getting the best results:

Questions

What happened to the results page?!
craigslist made a change that broke how we were showing the "Separate Cities" results.
We've switched to showing results powered by a Google Custom Search.
This does have a couple downsides: price and 'has picture' filters are no longer supported, and there is a slight delay (usually a few minutes) before new ads are found or deleted/flagged ones are removed.
To avoid these issues, you could try the Direct Results tab, which will give you results straight from craigslist, just a bit differently than before. Or, if you run the same search often, you could try our RSS Feeds tool.
How are you related to craigslist?

We're not! We are an independent site with absolutely NO affiliation with or endorsement by craigslist. Basically we just act as a search engine, helping you find their pages (and others) more easily.
How can I avoid deleted and flagged results?

SearchTempest has three results modes: 'Separate Cities', 'All Cities Together', and 'Direct Results'. With Direct Results, you can access the results straight from craigslist, in a separate window. That way you see exactly what you would by searching directly, with no deleted or flagged results. The other two modes can be more convenient, but they get their results from Google instead of directly from craigslist. That means it is possible for them to think an ad is still there when in fact it has been deleted. New posts tend to be indexed very quickly, but deleted and flagged posts can hang around for longer.

If it is important for you to filter out all deleted/flagged posts, we suggest using the Direct Results mode by clicking the matching tab on the results page. Alternatively, if you run the same search a lot, you could use our RSS Feeds tool.
Can you remove cities with no results from the 'Direct Results' list?

The thing about the Direct Results mode is that the results go straight from craigslist to you. They are loaded in a new window where our code can't 'see' them at all.

This means that you get exactly what you would find by searching each craigslist city individually. However, it also means we have no way to tell whether a given city has results or not, so we can't remove the ones without.

We will keep this request in mind though, in case circumstances change!

Just to summarize, searchtempest is current working, but the only true way to use it to access current CL ads is their "Direct Results" option. The other two options are inconsistent. I believe the use Google, so they are only as current as Google is.

Yet again, just like I did a year ago, having a Craigslist ghosting problem. Tried modifying the ad all kinds of different ways, nothing so far.

Here's the ad: 1995 Mercedes Benz E300D Diesel.

Any ideas? Maybe I need to try a different IP address.

Cash only, if you can see this post the car is still available.
Feel free to call, text, or email David at 972.523.1743 with any questions.

The front tires are in excellent condition with lots of tread remaining.
The rear tires are NEW.

The exterior is in overall decent condition, though there are imperfections upon close inspection. Visual impact from 10-15 feet is quite good.

The interior (seats, dash, trim, etc.) is in very nice condition. The one exception is the front part of the armrest, which is worn away.

Recent maintenance includes:

Oil and filter (Mobil Delvac 1300 15w40)
Coolant (Zerex G-05 and distilled water)
Air filter
Power steering fluid and filter
Fuel filters
New rear tires
Four-wheel alignment
Cleaned intake manifold
New catalytic converter (Magnaflow)
Replaced leaking resonator pipe with straight pipe
New expansion tank cap
New throttle guide
New hood star (really, what's the point of owning a Benz without a hood star?)

RI state inspection valid through May 2015.

The following items are not functioning as they should:
(1) Left Rear Window (needs a new regulator, the motor works)
(2) Sunroof
(3) Power Antenna
(4) The AC does not work
(5) One glow plug is not working, but the car starts without any difficulty
(6) Exterior Temperature Gauge
(7) Flaky low oil level sensor
(8) Becker stereo, unknown condition, needs the correct security code, there is a factory CD changer mounted in the trunk.

Thanks for looking.

I just went on to cars & trucks - for sale, searched E300D, and found your listing (the only one there, it appears).
