ATF in fuel as lube?

Does ATF help with lube in diesel engines? And will it do any harm to my om617.952?

2cyc is 2cyc.
the differences are only noticed when blended for the 2cycle engines themselves...
as a lube additive to a diesel engine you're only going to put 2oz per tank... so instead of 38 or 50:1 mix, you're like 1344:1 oil to fuel ratio...
so it'll not matter.

I've heard of it. I worry about the friction modifier it contains, since I do not know waht it is.

I use Canola as a periodic treatment.

Thanks. I've been measuring in 2 oz for the last 4 tanks in my SDL...

biodiesel is the best lube you can possibly use. One gallon per tank gives higher lubricity than any other additive.

optilube xpd is the best commercial off the shelf additive. it's what i use when i'm out of biod.

i wouldn't bother with anything else, stick to what's known to be very excellent stuff.

Hmm. I've not heard that bio was the BEST lube you could get. I know it's good though. not everyone has access to it though. ANYBODY can get 2cyc, and it's VERY good at fuel lube, as that's specifically what it's designed for.

Why is it needed at all in the Mercedes engines? My 240D has almost 350,000 miles on it with no routine additives and it's doing just fine.

The good thing about 2 cycle oil is that it gels up around moving part interfaces to keep a bubble of lubricant in that area. As a 2 cycle rider, I have read many posts against the use of marine 2 cycle oil in non marine engines. Perhaps because outboards are low rpm engines.
