Got my high mileage badge today (500,000 km)!
A large box arrived in the mail today. It was the high mileage badge I applied for plus extras! I expected to get a padded envelope with the badge inside, but instead I got the badge, a certificate (displayed in a nice folder), a catalog (hats, keyfobs, watches etc), all in a nice package:

I just went to a Mercedes Benz dealer and asked for a high mileage award. The guy wrote down all the information (name, address, mileage on the car, VIN etc) on a form and said he would send it in. About 3 weeks later, I got the package! If you have over 250,000 km (not sure exactly the amount in miles) on your car, you can get the first badge. Every 250,000 km you are eligible to get the next one. |
Congratulations !!
Good information to know, I have about 30K miles to match your achievement on my 99 E300. |
Cost?

It doesn't cost anything. MB sends you this for free, when verified by a dealer.
My SD has 210k miles, so I put in for my 250k badge a while ago. Looks great on the grille! |
Congrats!.......
Unfortunately I had a difficult time with the service manager at my nearest dealer. When I went in for my 250k he said that he had never heard of the program and that he did not have the paperwork. I asked him if he could download it from the computer that he was seated in front of and he said "no, you'll have to bring one in yourself". Miffed, I walked out. On my way out the door the receptionist who kindly greeted me on my way in and directed me to Service Manager Frank caught me with the paperwork in hand. She said something like"please don't say where you got this" I turned right back around with the form filled out. Frank at Cape Cod Mercedes Benz seemed perturbed that I "found this form in my glove box" and reluctantely went to check the odometer. He signed and stamped the form. I thanked the receptionist and went on my way. It was about 4 or 5 weeks ago and I am still waiting for the badge. Ho Hum. |

The look of the car didn't matter to him. ( and no, I wasn't hauling firewood ;))He didn't see me pull up or get a chance to look at it before the cold shoulder. Perhaps my long hair and bushy beard put him off, but it has been a while since I have seen anything negative from that.

I called four days ago to find out the status of my award. They took my number said they would call back when the person who takes care of the awards gets in in a few hours. Still haven't head back. I'll try again on Tuesday.

Hmmm... Imagine what would happen if someone wrote a letter to Mercedes in Germany and asked if it's true that the high-mileage badges cost 250.00 apiece, "well that's what our local service man is charging for them!":D |
Rich, Congratulations on your 500,000km Badge award. what excitement when it arrives and you open the box and there is your new badge and nice folder with the certificate.
I put in for mine back in Feb 2009 for both the 250 and 500 badges, both came the same day, took about 3 weeks as I remember. this was for the 85 300D. I notice now the folder is silver, as when I got mine, the cover is done in a black cloth, guess it is another cost saving for them. I bought a 78 240D a couple weeks ago and it came with the 250,000km milage badge. the girl gave me the box with the folder and other paper work. It was the owner before her that put in for the badge, and passed it to her and then to me. The award is awarded to the car, not to us. Any one of you come acoss milage badges or paper work in the PNP yards? I found one older 200,000km badge several years on a W108. back then they were held on with brass screws that went in from the front side, and the badge was not painted. it was more like the older style grill badge, sort of a blue and white porcilin material. those didn`t fade or chip. I found some paper work laying on the ground from a W126. guess the owner passed it on with the car, then went to the yard. someone found it and threw it around, :( kind of like they do with the first aid kits. only found the 250,000km certificate. That Dealer charging $250 for a free milage award from MB, should be turned in for sure. or maybe tared and feathered. :) Wonder who is getting that money? I need to put in for the 2 badges for the 80 240, she is up to 343K miles now.
