Well...I survived the drive home. 7 hr drive (5hrs in pouring rain). Made it back with an 1/8th tank left! gotta LOVE that 21gal. tank!! Pretty much ran at 70mph the whole way. If the fuel guage is accurate, then I got 465 mi. with the needle right at the 1/8th tank mark (25'ish mgp?)

Car drove w/o so much as a hick-up. Car looks good...only thing unexpected is that it has a dozen or so small dings in various doors...couldn't tell that from the pictures originally. Small paint chip underneath rear tailight with surface rust.

Becker radio works but MAN that thing really sux performance wize. HORRID FM/AM radio reception/sensitiviy. Tap deck kept wanting to switch sides by itself, etc. Plans were to leave the Becker in place, but not now. I'll keep it for sure but that thing is a dinosaur.

Well...tired right now...got back with very little light left so no pix today. I'll have them up tomorrow.

Oh....and those sad, sad tiny little speakers

Tripacer, I have seen that 300d w/115 for $8900 in the trader to! It must really be nice. I wish you could have seen my 84' 300d I had. It really was a nice car too. I miss it so.

ck42, Congratulations! Sounds like it must have been a good car if you carried out the sale and drove home in a pounding rainstorm! I bought my 1988 300E in Salt Lake City and drove home over 2200 miles to Connecticut last November. Love the car, and I was really lucky on the weather - not a cloud in the sky until I got within a hundred miles of home. Good Luck! Jim

Filled up the tank...looks like I got right at 27mpg on the trip back.

...the low fuel light turned on right as I was going to fill up. But, from the amount of fuel I pumped in, the light came on when there was about 3.5-4 gallons left. Sound right?

I think my book says that when the light comes on, there are 2 gal. of reserve fuel. But, if I fill up right after the light comes on, I can only get 16.x gal. pumped into the tank. So methinks yours is like mine and we're both OK.

She still hasn't driven it yet tho. Need to get it registered and tagged tomorrow then goes into the shop for valve adjustment and body work estimate (dings and other aestetics).

Yes, the car prolly doesn't look much different. It's dirty, covered in a nice thin layer of yellow polen. Tires are muddy...glass is dirty. I'll have it cleaned up and make some respectable shots when I have an opportunity.
