300CD Lower rear quarter molding removal
Hi all! I have a 1984 300CD and I need to remove the lower molding from the left rear quarter. It is part number 133 on the diagram from the EPC. Does this requirer removing the interior trim panel to gain access to fasteners? Thanks for the help!

I'm almost positive you just pull. If there is a screw/nut (which I don't think there is on that piece), it would be accessible from the inside lip of the wheel well. You difinitely do not need to take anything off inside. The trim snaps onto the clips attached to the body from the outside. The clips are plastic and you might break one taking the trim off, but they are cheap. The clips push into holes in the body and a round rod is pushed down the center spreading the clip and holding it in the hole. To remove the old clip, you just push the round rod into the body and pull the clip off.

Just pull. Prolly need new clips to put it back on.

Pull on the bottom of the piece you're trying to remove. The extrusion in the trim piece is designed to hang on the top of the plastic retainers, and then pivot on to the bottom. A little grease will make installation easier.
Installation is the reverse process- hang it on the top and tap it home on the bottom. |
