Should be okay, just a mess.
I wouldn't do so with the lines connected.

Ok, I have one screw off the ignition switch. The back/top one is absolutely absurd. I mean, anyone who has gotten that thing off in under 30 minutes should be bronzed. So how does this switch work on the inside? Reason I ask is I am wondering if squirting some brake cleaner in there will "free it up" without taking it off, or when it gunks up it gunks up. I am not even sure how I would squirt anything in there it's so tight.

That's why my thought is to squirt brake cleaner thru the lines while attached to the switch. I can't imagine how a person would remove the vacuum switch without removing the whole ignition assembly. I'd squirt the brake cleaner in one end and then suck it thru from the other using a Mity Vac and with a fuel filter in the line to catch the brake cleaner before it got into the Mity Vac.

Got it done. Sprayed some biodegradable solution that seems tough on petrochemicals but not too tough on rubber down the brown line into the mechanical vac switch at the ignition. Left the line to the shut off valve disconnected, and let the solution go through the switch at ignition and drip into pan. 2-3 rounds of this. Started car, got under steering wheel, turned car off, and had vac coming out the right end of the switch! Also needed to install small zip ties to rubber connector because those were a little loose there. Done deal. Avoided having to replace/remove that switch -- man that was tough to get at. Thanks everyone!

Glad to hear it.
New rubber connectors aren't very expensive.
