Yes you got 3 pins on the sending unit connector. Jump them all 3 ways should show.full, empty.them resvere light on. You can hurt nothing doing this.good luck.

Using those instructions to troubleshoot a temp gauge is going to require more than luck!!!

Unplug the sensor on the engine. If the gauge moves you may have a bad or shorted sending unit. If not, and the sensor is unplugged, you have a wire problem.

so in looking down at engine, there appear to be 2 sending units one near injector1 and one between injector 2 and 3 which one is water temp?

I don't know, but what the heck, just unplug them both. If the temp gauge does not move, plug them back in one at a time until you find the sensor that makes the gauge move, and you've found your 'bad' sensor.
If the gauge does still move, you may have a wiring problem. |

following up,initially wheni replaced temp sensor i made a mistake and replaced the boost pressure sensor, looks like the temp sender and is only a few inches laterally.so now with reversed wires gauge works.ill have to take both temp and boost sensors out and reverse their location.crazy
