My old 82 300SD on eBay!

I was browsing on ebay tonight when I came up on this SD I said "hmm, that looks familiar". Sure enough, I check the vin number and it was my 300SD!

I bought this car for $300 in July of 2001. It had not run in 5 years, I got it going with 1 new glow plug, battery and 3 qts of oil. Started right up!

The damn thing ran so well I drove it for a while and the only thing it needed was tires (developed flat spots from sitting). It really ran great, after sitting for 5 years I could hardly belive it!! I also fixed the window switches, door switches and the seat cable drives (PITA!!).

In about a month, the water pump all of a sudden went, I put a new one on along with all new belts.

It had some exterior rust which I sanded, primed and sprayed with some creme colored rustoleum, matched pretty damn good! It looks like he got those rot holes fixed.

I sold it a few months after that to a dealer in PA, he came and got it for $1500.

I sold the car to him with 254,000 miles, I dont know where he's getting 234,000 miles from, I really hope he didn't roll it back.

Here is the pictures I took of it when I owned it:

Here's the eBay ad:

BTW: I have no financial interest in this car, I dont even know the guy selling it.

I noticed the line in the auction: CAR SOLD FOR ALMOST $50,000.00 BACK IN 1983. WOW!!
I thought my 1984 was stickered at $37 K or so... maybe the guy isn't very good with numbers. I mean, if you were going to roll back an odo, wouldn't you go for more than from 254K to 234K?
Still, it looks like a nice cheap SD with lots of life in it. Also, it appears that I've been paying way too much for used Benz's... :|

The MSRP for that car was $37,970. (I sent him an e-mail about the odo. Let's see if he does anything about it)

The description under the car's pic also says its TEAL...

I agree he's off on the price. My 87 300SDL was about $50k and I'm certain that is quite a bit more than what it would have sold for in 1982.

Maybe the speedo/instrument cluster has been replaced, so the odo reading is incorrect now?

Just a guess...

Well, I guess we're doing that now eh?

The seller sent me an e-mail and wanted to know your name. Perhaps you can contact him:

bautoarts@aol.com

I told him I wasn't going to give him your name but to let me know if he wanted you to contact him. I said that the car when you sold it had 254,000 and the MSRP was $36,830.

He added a note about the correct miles at the bottom of the auction.

Its got to be over 254K miles, I sold it to him with 254,200 or so, and its a 300 mile drive from my house to him in PA and i'm sure he drove it some, but oh well.

How many miles did it have when you bought it? How many did you put on it?

This was his response to me:

Fair enough.
I changed the mileage as it was a typo and my thanks for pointing it out.
as far as the car's original price goes, it seems that a 400 series was used instead of a 300 series.

Tranny never slipped when I owned it..

The trunk was rusted out but the floor pans were solid.
