Idle adjust on 602

Hi Everyone,

My '92 602 idles at about 1k RPM. My understanding is that normal idle speed is ~750 RPM. I have done a search to see how to adjust the idle but that has been fruitless. Since the EDS controls idle speed is there a way to adjust it and/or what fault would cause the idle speed to increase.

Thanks,
Andrew

With the engine idling at 1000rpm, disconnect the ELR, the round red plastic thing at the aft end of the IP. If idle drops or the engine stalls, EDS is sending too much signal. If idle stays it might be something you can adjust or external or internal linkage is binding.

IIRC base idle is set by the set screw above the ELR. It's the hex tipped screw with a lock nut that takes a 13mm wrench.

Thanks Sixto!

Finally got to it this weekend. Bringing the idle down to 700 (finally found the right pages of the SM) eliminated the code 11 that the EDS was throwing. Which in turn allowed the turbo to build some boost. I will throw some of that info into the wastegate thread (http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/212097-wastegate-actuator-swap-om602-962-a.html) and start a new one for discussion about performance and economy.
