Rear Windows Fixed!
After many years of owning my 300sd, I finally repaired my inoperable rear windows. The previous owner was upset as he had already replaced the broken slide on one window for 300.00 so he just pulled the plugs from the rear switches and used only the front windows.
The repair kit is straightforward, you pull the motor assembly, grind off old rivet, drill slightly larger hole and then using a drift, mushroom the new rivet/slide and Bob's your uncle! I used white lithium grease on the slides and the windows now fly up and down. This is mostly a labor function and it allows you to clean and lubricate while inside the doors - a satisfying repair! I wish the leads could be pulled from the motor but you have to separate them from the window switch and of course, when the switch cover is removed, the wires pop out of the sockets -note wire sequence first before pulling switch cover. Plan on an hour for each door. |

Where did you get the kit?
