How to Remove 300TD Tailgate Lock Mechanism?
 

How do you get the lock mechanism out of the hatch?

I have the panels off, the wiper motor out, the bolts off and cut out the vacuum lines and wiring for extra room.

There seems to be limited room pulling it towards the top of the hatch and I can't figure out a way to wiggle it to the side.

Please tell me I'm missing something...

As per the FSM,

#7. Lock rotary catch of lock. This will make the lock less wide for easier removal.

#8. Remove lock from back door to the left.


Since you already have it loose, didn`t bother with other steps.

I'm unsure what the "rotary catch" is. Is this referring to the lock cylinder?
